Communications Committee

Our congregation will communicate internally and externally so that members and others will understand and become interested in participating in the Church for the mission of making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

Responsibilities of the Committee:

Creation and maintenance of the church website
Distribution of email communications to the members as needed, with a system for phoning members without email access
Preparation and distribution of a monthly newsletter
Preparation of news releases for the local newspapers, as requested
Coordination of prayer requests by email and phone
Placement of paid advertising as budget allows
Leadership for a series of computer drop-in workshops
Development of a plan to implement the Five Practices which includes:

A uniform signage policy for the church
Taping sermons for shut-ins and nursing homes
Interviewing church members for the newsletter and web
Adopting an “at risk” child and/or participation in Lunch Buddies
Providing resources for programs at the new Mecklenburg County Community Center

Exploration of other creative methods of external and internal communications
