DISCIPLE Bible Study

It’s been a long time since we’ve had DISCIPLE Bible Study at Jamieson. Since our last experience, they have added new, shorter studies.  So, instead of a 32-week commitment of 2 ½ hour sessions, we are going to offer Invitation to the New Testament, an eight-week course with 60-90 minute sessions. There will still be the same in-depth study of scripture, just in a more manageable format. This will be perfect for people who want to begin an in-depth study of the Bible, as well as for people who have had some experience with DISCIPLE or other such studies.

The program will begin on Monday, September 15. Walt will offer a class at 10:00 a.m. and a second, identical class at 7:00 p.m. The cost, payable at our first class session, will be $10. Please call the office at 374-8050 or sign up during worship.

Safe Sanctuaries Training

September 16 and 23 - Basic Training for Safe Sanctuaries

Basic Training for Safe Sanctuaries will be taught by Walt and held on Tuesday, September 16 and 23, 2008 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.  Attendance at both sessions is required to complete the Basic Training course.  Anyone who works with children or youth is strongly encouraged to attend.  This includes nursery workers (paid and volunteers), Sunday School teachers, Youth workers, and any Scout leaders.  Contact the church office to sign up.

November 15 - Advanced Training for Safe Sanctuaries

Advanced Training for Safe Sanctuaries program will be held at Crenshaw United Methodist Church in Blackstone on Saturday, November 15, 2008 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Lunch is provided.  The cost is $25/person.  Contact the church office to sign up at 374-8050.

Saturday Breakfast Series

The Saturday Breakfast Series is designed to allow members of Jamieson to share their areas of interest and expertise with other members and the community at large.  These topical sessions begin with breakfast at 8:30 a.m., followed by the program from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall.

Fall 2008 sessions will be announced soon.

Faith Community Nursing

The Faith Community Nursing program at JMUMC hosts blood pressure screenings and provides important health information to church members.  The group is looking for nursing and non-nursing personnel interested in learning more about the program.  The next blood pressure screening is scheduled for September 14, 2008 from 10:00 a.m.to10:45 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall.

Vacation Bible School

Jamieson participates in an ecumenical Vacation Bible School each summer.  Many of the Clarksville churches join forces to provide this program.  The 2008 Vacation Bible School was held July 21-25 at the Clarksville Baptist Church.
