UMCOR Kits |
|
|
|
Every day lives
around the world are touched by the gifts you give to the United Methodist
Committee on Relief. UMCOR's relief supply warehouse, the UMCOR Sager Brown
Depot in Baldwin, La., needs your support to provide much needed sewing and
layette kits for Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia. Sager Brown is especially
requesting donations for 33,000 layette kits, 64,000 sewing kits and
approximately 1,000 bedding kits to meet upcoming needs. Donations for all
kits are needed to prepare for uncertain times and future relief efforts.

Computer
Outreach Ministry |
|
|
|
|
Jamieson is partnering with Hargrove
Chapel United Methodist Church in Townsville, NC, to provide volunteers for
their computer outreach ministry. Hargrove Chapel is a small, African
American church which has received a
Duke
Endowment grant to reach out to the rural, economically depressed area of
Vance County by providing a computer lab with basic instruction and
guidance.
The Mission Committee is recruiting
volunteers with basic computer knowledge to devote one three-hour period of
time each month, driving about 15-20 miles, to this mission opportunity. We
also anticipate other opportunities to partner with Hargrove Chapel in the
future. Contact Linda Pulliam for details, 919-603-0317 or
lgpulliam@touchnc.net.
Eight Jamieson and seven Hargrove members attended an orientation session at
Hargrove Chapel on Monday April 14. |

Water for the
Oppressed |
|
|
|
|
 On February 17, 2008, we
were
privileged to have with us Claude and Leslie Bing, founders of the
non-profit organization “Water For The Oppressed – Africa”. They spoke about their newly formed mission to Africa to drill and
repair wells in Zambia, Africa. A mission to bring wells that will provide a
safe and adequate water supply to many communities in that area.
Prior to starting this mission, Claude had been on several mission trips in
Africa and saw first hand the desperate situations with inadequate water. In
2006, Claude and Leslie were called by God to take their well drilling
skills to Africa. Selling their home and business and raising additional
funds to buy and send trucks and equipment to Africa, they are now prepared
to start serious drilling this year.
Jamieson
Memorial began support to the Bings in April 2007, providing assistance with
their living expenses through 2008. Starting this year we plan to become an
even bigger part of this exciting adventure, drilling and repairing wells,
and getting to know more about Zambia.
For further information about this organization and about the Bings, visit
their web site at:
