The Jamieson Memorial United Methodist Church United Methodist Men group meets the second Sunday of each month (except during the summer) at 8:00 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall for breakfast and a business meeting. There is usually a speaker to address many subjects/topics of interest.

The UMM are active at Jamieson and beyond by supporting the activities and organizations below:

  • The Handyman work group helps members with home repairs (13 projects were completed in 2007)

  • Provide Missions funding for the Edisto Indians

  • Heifer Project

  • Patrick Henry Boys Plantation

  • Prison Ministry

  • Provide monetary support to all of our Scouting units (Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts) by paying for the God and Country program medals at the successful completion of the program by each scout

  • Recognition of Veterans on Veterans Day

  • Annual Invite All Ladies of the Church to Breakfast Sunday (2008 will be in May)

United Methodist Men

April 13, 2008

President Moose Yeates called the meeting to order and welcomed all who were in attendance. James Sheppard led the group in prayer.

22 people were present which included our guest speaker and one visitor, Jon Harvell. A special “thank you” to the cooking team for preparing a wonderful breakfast.

The minutes were approved for the March 2008 meeting.

Elaine Senz requested that the UMMen consider: 1) hosting a fellowship dinner in June, July, or August such as a picnic and 2) there is a need for a male shepherd to contact individual male members to invite them to church functions. Moose and Clint Dalton will begin working on the fellowship dinner. Any male interested in working with the shepherd program, contact Elaine Senz.

At our next meeting on May 11th at 8:00 AM, the UMMen will invite ALL of the ladies of the church for Mother’s Day. (All ladies are invited regardless of being a Mother or not.)

Sign-ups for the monthly head ushers are still going slow. Please contact Clint Dalton if you are willing to help out.

Our guest speaker was Cindy Felton who was representing the American Cancer Society. She presented a program called “Road to Recovery” which concerned providing transportation for patients for doctor’s appointments and/or treatments.

After a motion to adjourn, we were dismissed.

Respectfully submitted, Steve Roberts Secretary, UMMen
